HOUSTON - (January 11, 2016) – Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital announces Nancy Keenan, RN, MSN, MBA, NE-BC, as the new vice president and chief nursing officer. Keenan will be responsible for advancing nursing and clinical practice as the hospital continues to grow and expand in 2016 and beyond.  

“Nancy brings more than 40 years of nursing experience and more than 20 years of senior leadership experience to Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital,” says Keith Barber, chief executive officer, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital & senior vice president, Houston Methodist. “We welcome Nancy back to Houston Methodist where she served as a nursing leader earlier in her career, and we look forward to Nancy’s leadership as we continue our commitment to provide the highest quality of patient care to the Northwest Houston community.”

Keenan most recently served as vice president and chief executive for CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System in Texarkana where she led the implementation of new clinical services and enhanced electronic documentation while creating an environment focused on excellence in patient care, safety, and professional development.

Keenan will lead Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital as they seek Magnet resdesignation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and will also serve as the hospital’s Business Practices Officer.

Keenan holds a Masters in Nursing Administration from Walden University, a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, as well as a Nursing Diploma from Washington Hospital Center School of Nursing. She has presented at national nursing conferences addressing topics on innovation and improvement, as well as quality indicators and patient safety. Keenan has served as a Board Member for the United Way of Greater Texarkana and on Advisory Committees for multiple college nursing programs.
